BELMOND — The Webster City girls soccer team fought to a 2-2 tie with Belmond-Klemme on Monday.

The Lynx (1-3-1 overall) controlled the ball most of the match, but couldn’t break through against the Broncos.

“It was a disappointing result for all of us,” said Webster City head coach Kristine Mason. “We kept possession the entire first half and had several chances, but only converted two.

“Our girls have some work to do in the final third, but so much of what we are working on is coming together.”

Janey Putney and Sandra Fuentes Cruz scored the lone Lynx goals.

“In the second half, we made one mistake and it began to unravel our momentum,” Mason said. “The high winds and rain played a factor and definitely had an impact on the team, but we had stopped playing our game and working together.

“This was a learning experience for us to not sit back on our heels just because we were ahead by a couple goals and to overcome adversity by working together when it happens.

The Lynx are back in action on Thursday when they host Iowa Falls-Alden.

Starting at $3.46/week.
