DES MOINES — Both the Webster City and South Hamilton boys track and field teams will be represented alongside the best of the best in the state during the Drake Relays.
High school action begins Thursday and runs through Saturday here inside Drake Stadium.
For the Lynx, Jayden Weinzetl punched a ticket into the 100-meter dash. Weinzetl will hit the blue oval on Friday morning at 9:13 a.m. in the prelims of the event.
Joining Weinzetl will be South Hamilton speedster Kolby Hodnefield in the prelims, as he qualified in both the 100- and the 400-meter run, which runs Friday night at 5:46 p.m.
The finals of the 100 are scheduled for Friday afternoon at 3:03 p.m.
Weinzetl clocked a time of 10.95 to earn a spot in the field. That places him 28th in the state.
Hodnefield, a junior, is tied for seventh with a time of 10.77. He will also run the anchor on the 4×100-meter relay for the Hawks at 10:12 a.m. Saturday. Joining him will be Braden Young, Tanner Twedt and Nick Severseike.
In the 400, Hodnefield is ranked 13th with a time of 49.76. The South Hamilton 4×100 sits 38th overall after going 43.43 in Earlham earlier this year.
The finals for the 4×100 relay are set for later that afternoon at 3:04 p.m.
