South Hamilton girls capture team title at Belmond-Klemme
BELMOND — The South Hamilton girls track and field team claimed overall top honors here last Friday night at the Bronco Relays hosted by Belmond-Klemme.
The Hawks scored 114 points, finishing 24 ahead of West Hancock. Lake Mills finished in third place, followed by Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, host Belmond-Klemme and Hampton-Dumont/CAL.
Riah Van De Pol, Sara Scheller, Brooklyn Doolittle and Olivia Beaune teamed to claim the distance medley relay for South Hamilton in a time of 4:50.34.
Bianca Seaton and Rosemary Chamness added event titles for the Hawks. Seaton won the 800 in 2:41.19 and Chamness the 200 in 28.83.
Second-place performances for South Hamilton belonged to Scheller in the 400-meter hurdles, Isabel Swenson in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump, Beaune in the 800-meter run, the 4×100-meter relay, the 4×200-meter relay and the sprint medley relay.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday, hosting the George Abell Relays beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Penning Athletic Complex in Jewell.
South Hamilton is then at West Marshall on Thursday.
