Lynx open season with two-game homestand
The Webster City football team now knows their plans for the next eight Friday nights in the fall of both this year and 2026 after the release of schedules by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
Andy Brim enters his second season as head coach of the Lynx.
Webster City will once again be paired with North Central Conference rivals Algona and Humboldt, as MOC-Floyd Valley, Bishop Heelan and Sioux Center join them to form Class 3A, District 1.
The Lynx open with back-to-back home games, as they host Iowa Falls-Alden on Aug. 29 before welcoming Fort Dodge.
Clear Lake is the first road game for Webster City during Week 3, as they conclude non-district play vs. Gilbert on Sept. 19. The Lynx head to Humboldt to begin district play before returning home to meet Sioux Center.
They conclude the year with two of three on the road, at Sioux City Heelan and MOC-Floyd Valley, around a home game vs. Algona.
Humboldt made the state finals in 2024. Algona and Gilbert reached the quarterfinals.
Fort Dodge (4A), Clear Lake, Heelan and MOC-Floyd Valley were also playoff qualifiers.
Aiden Hrnicek and Jaxon Griffith saw time at quarterback for Webster City, as Griffith is the leading returning rusher after racking up 824 yards and four touchdowns.
Hrnicek had 210 yards and two scores on the ground. Griffith and Carter Mickelson combined for two receiving TDs last year while the defense returns the likes of Dawson Bertran, Alex Staley, Hrnicek, Gavin Wynkoop, Griffith, Mickelson and Eli Estlund.
