ALGONA — The Webster City girls track and field team took part in the Hannover Relays hosted by Algona here Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs captured team gold followed by Clear Lake and Lake Mills. The Lynx placed ninth overall.
Cloe Savitski was the 100-meter runner-up in a time of 13.67 for the top individual finish.
Adysen Poppen placed third in the shot put with a throw of 36-6 while the 4×800-meter relay of Carmen Santiago, Rubi Andrade-Murillo, Mckenna Buakham and Ariauna Reed also placed third.
Kali Hartnett, Isabel Weinschenk, Hailey Brim and Savitski were fifth in the 4×200 relay. Weinschenk, Tristyn Wright, Brim and Savitski were sixth in the 4×100.
Jakaela Cherry captured the junior varsity shot put event.
“Going into the meet, we knew that it was going to be difficult for us to score as many points as we have the last couple because of the quality of competition,” WCHS head coach Tyler Mosbach said. “We were also backing off in a lot of girls by limiting the number of events.
“However, this did not deter the girls from going everything they had in the event that they were competing in. We were able to come away with several top finishes, personal records and season bests. It was a very successful outing and we will use it as we continue to build throughout the season.”
Webster City heads to Jefferson for the Ram Relays on Monday. That field includes Boone, Carroll, East Sac County, Fort Dodge, Perry and the host, Greene County.
