Lynx girls blank Hampton-Dumont/CAL

The Webster City girls tennis team put on a performance here Tuesday evening, sweeping Hampton-Dumont/CAL in North Central Conference action, 9-0.

Allie Severe, Olivia Gallentine, Morgan Hackbarth, Alivia Burns, Cyra Christensen and Gabbie Sebert were all singles winners for the Lynx (5-4 overall, 3-1 in league).

Severe pulled out a tiebreaker in the second set to earn a sweep while Gallentine, Hackbarth, Burns, Christensen and Sebert combined to drop just 13 games on the night.

“It was nice to come out and get the team win,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “Everybody got on the board and we had some nice junior varsity match wins as well. I thought we were a little flat to start but got into a nice rhythm as the meet went on.

“Alivia absolutely rolled and continues to play with more and more confidence, Allie was able to gut through against a really tough opponent and Olivia got back in more of a rhythm with her play.”

In doubles competition, Severe and Burns, Gallentine and Hackbarth, and Christensen and Sebert completed the sweep with straight-set victories.

Picking up junior varsity wins were Perla Torres and Liv Bergman, Karina Murray and Paisyn Bare, Sylvia Otteros and Natalie Segar, Abby Blake and Emalie Perez, Alondra Johnson and Greenlee Williams, Miley Mason and Delaney Lyons, and Camdyn Coons and Ash Tinoco.

The Lynx head to Saydel on Thursday.

Starting at $3.46/week.
