Lynx fare well at Bunn Relays

HUMBOLDT — The Webster City boys track and field team capped off the week with a strong showing at the Charlie Bunn Relays hosted by Humboldt last Friday night.

Justin Callahan and Jaxon Griffith both walked away with race titles, as Callahan won the 400 in 51.98 and Griffith the 110 hurdles in 15.52. Callahan was also the runner-up in the 1,600.

The Lynx finished third overall behind the Wildcats and Algona.

Jayden Weinzetl claimed two silvers in the 100 and 200 while also running on the runner-up sprint medley relay. Griffith, Aiden Hrnicek and Callahan joined him on the relay, which set a new school record in 1:37.08.

“It was another solid third-place team finish,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “I was very happy with the effort and enthusiasm. We had some good performances.”

Jack Barner was the 3,200 runner-up, and also grabbed bronze in the 800.

Cole Nohrenberg was third in the discus for the Lynx, who added a third in the 4×100 behind Hrnicek, Griffith, Adison Punkham and Weinzetl.

Webster City’s Zack Lahr won the junior varsity discus.

The Lynx were in action on Monday at the Southeast Valley Invitational in Gowrie. Webster City faced Gilbert, Glidden-Ralston, GTRA, Madrid, Manson Northwest Webster, Ogden, Paton-Churdan, Pocahontas Area, Roland-Story and West Bend-Mallard.
