The Webster City boys golf squad edged Carroll Kuemper and Panorama to open its season.

The Lynx carded a 161, finishing just ahead of the Knights (163) and Panthers (165).

Webster City’s Cael Nixon and Luke Firsching both carded two-over par 38s on the front nine to tie for second behind only Parker Cary of Panorama (37). Cole Miller (40) and Dawson Bertran (45) followed for the Lynx.

Nixon recorded seven pars and two bogeys. Firsching birdied the second hole and had five pars to go with three bogeys.

Webster City also prevailed in the junior varsity meet, thanks to Gavin Malloy (42), Joel Kasch (43), Carter Mickelson (43) and Colton Schroeder (45).

The Lynx are back in action on Thursday at Woodward-Granger. The meet tees off at 1 p.m.
