Hodnefield leads Hawks to three wins

BALLARD — The South Hamilton track and field teams got outside last Thursday to compete at the Ballard Invitational.

Both the boys and girls finished seventh overall. Host Ballard and South Hardin tied for first in the boys standings while Bondurant-Farrar won girls.

Leading the way for South Hamilton was Kolby Hodnefield, as the junior captured the 100-meter dash in 11.05 and the 400-meter run in 49.76. He was also the runner-up in the 200 in a time of 22.47 while anchoring the winning sprint medley relay.

Joining Hodnefield on the sprint medley were Nick Severseike, Braden Young and Tanner Twedt, as they went 1:34.84.

Seversike, Wyatt Gelder, Twedt and Hayden Hill added a silver in the distance medley, clocking a time of 3:53.32, while Severseike, Young, Gelder and Twedt closed the night with a second in the 4×400 in 3:46.15.

Tessa Skartvedt was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 36-9 while the quartet of Riah Van De Pol, Sara Scheller, Rosemary Chamness and Olivia Beaune finished second in the distance medley in 4:48.24.

Beaune finished third in the 800 while Caitlin Bare was third in the 3,000 and fifth in the 1,500. Stella Martensen added a third in the high jump with Isabel Swenson fourth and Scheller sixth.

The sprint medley raced to a fourth, as did the 4×400, while Claire Hewitt finished fifth in the long jump and Cici Herrick fifth in the 400. Van De Pol was sixth in the 200, as was the 4×100.

For the boys, Titus Herrick was fifth in the discus and Young finished sixth in the 100.

South Hamilton runs in Baxter on Monday.
