Hewitt enters transfer portal

CEDAR FALLS — Former South Hamilton standout Carter Hewitt will enter the transfer portal when the spring cycle begins Wednesday for college football players.

Hewitt spent the past four years at Northern Iowa following a standout career for the Hawks in multiple sports. The redshirt senior was expected to be a key piece of the defensive line for the Panthers this year.

Last fall, Hewitt recorded a career-high 53 total tackles with 1.5 sacks for Northern Iowa, playing in all 12 games. He ranked seventh on the team in tackles after making 10 stops in 2023 and three in 2022.

The 6-foot-6, 287-pounder played just one season with the Hawks, recording six sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss as a senior. That was enough to warrant attention from several schools, including UNI.

Hewitt was also recruited by Iowa, North Dakota State, Central Michigan and South Dakota coming out of South Hamilton, where he was an all-state football selection and made all-conference in football, basketball and baseball.

Starting at $3.46/week.
