Three wins for South Hamilton in Ballard

GILBERT — The South Hamilton track and field teams were in action here Tuesday night at the Gilbert co-ed meet.

The host Tigers won both the boys and girls team titles, as the Hawk boys were fifth and the girls finished fourth overall.

South Hamilton had a pair of individual event winners on the girls side, as Stella Martensen won the high jump and Tessa Skartvedt the shot put.

Martensen, a freshman, cleared 5-0 to win her event while Skartvedt, a sophomore, had a throw of 35-1. Skartvedt was also the discus runner-up.

Isabel Swenson was third in the high jump and the distance medley relay of Riah Van De Pol, Sydney Scheller, Cici Herrick and Olivia Beaune placed third.

For the South Hamilton boys, the sprint medley relay of Nick Severseike, Braden Young, Tanner Twedt and Kolby Hodnefield placed first in 1:35.49.

Severseike was second in the 400 and Twedt finished third in the 200. The 4×200 relay of Severseike, Twedt, Will Gelder and Young added a third.

The Hawks will host their own coed meet on Thursday at Mike Penning Athletic Complex beginning at 4:30 p.m. Joining South Hamilton in the field will be BCLUW, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-Nesco, Madrid and West Marshall.
