Hamilton Co. Speedway opener April 11 and 12

Area racing action draws closer and closer despite Mother Nature recently battling between spring and winter.

Hamilton County Speedway will play host to two nights of wheel-to-wheel thrills on April 11 and 12 with The Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt.

The 15th Anual Spring Classic will hand out $5,000 each night to the winner on the half-mile semi-banked dirt oval. Past USMTS champion Rodney Sanders, current season point leader Jim Chisholm, Tanner Mullens, Joe Chisholm and Kyle Strickler.

Jim Chisholm owns two wins in six starts with Chad Dillard also capturing two victories. Joe Chisholm and Strickler have earned the other two checkered flags on the year.

Along with the USMTS Touring Series, stock cars, B-mods, hobby stocks, tuners and Crown Vics will be racing this weekend.

Pit gates open both days at 3 p.m. with the grandstand opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are set for 6 p.m. and racing will follow.

Tickets are $25 Friday for adults, $22 for seniors over 62 and free for anyone under 16, with 12-to-16-year-olds needing an ID. Saturday, adults are $30 and seniors $25.

Hamilton County Speedway is planning to run 12-to-12 races this year with the next event being the USRA Iron Man Stock Cars plus all classes set for April 25-26.

The series kicks off this coming weekend in Louisana with stops in West Union, Britt, Mason City, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Missouri set for throughout the summer.
