Hodnefield wins two titles for Hawks
AMES — Kolby Hodnefield kicked off his junior season by claiming two titles here at the IATC Indoor Championships.
Behind those winning performances, South Hamilton placed third in the boys team standings in Class 1A.
Hodnefield captured gold in the 200 and 400, going 22.80 and 49.85. Both of those times rank in the Top-15 in the state, including the second-fastest 400.
Along with the two firsts, Hodnefield was also second in the 60 in 7.17 and anchored the fourth place 4×400 with Nick Severseike, Treyton Twedt and Braden Young. That quartet clocked a time of 3:34.44.
The 4×100 of Severseike, Wyatt Gelder, Twedt and Young finished third in 45.49 while Seversike was fifth in the 400 in 52.57.
Tessa Skartvedt led the Hawk girls with a third in the shot put, launching a throw of 35-6.75. Claire Hewitt was 11th in the long jump.
