Webster City girls come up just short at No. 8 Algona
ALGONA — The Webster City girls put together one of their more complete games of the season, nearly pulling off an upset against eighth-ranked (Class 3A) Algona here on Friday.
The Bulldogs were able to pull away late, securing a 61-53 victory over the Lynx.
Olivia Gallentine scored 20 points with five rebounds and four assists to lead Webster City. Marissa Hedeen added eight points, four assists and three rebounds.
Tristyn Wright had seven points and five assists for the Lynx, while Evie Davis added six boards.
“The girls battled right with the North Central Conference leaders all night,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “Offensively, we played as well as we have all year. We shot well, but had very good looks because of our willingness to share the ball.”
The Lynx finished with 19 assists on 22 made field goals.
Earlier this year, Algona posted a 63-35 victory over Webster City.
Up next for the Lynx will be a road trip to Clear Lake on Tuesday night.
