Lynx struggle on offense in loss to Clear Lake

The Webster City girls returned to North Central Conference action here on Tuesday night, falling to Clear Lake, 54-31.

Olivia Gallentine led the Lynx with eight points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Tristyn Wright added seven points and two steals.

Jaylen Bahrenfuss contributed six points. Marissa Hedeen grabbed five rebounds.

“We have to find ways to score some points early in games,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “Our effort and attitude continues to be good despite not getting the results we want.”

The Lynx fell behind after the first, 12-6, and scored just three points in the second quarter, allowing the Lions to race out to a 23-9 halftime advantage. They would outscore Clear Lake in the third, 12-11.

For the Lions, Jacelyn Ainley had 14 points, Madi Ott added 11 and Taylor Schwenn finished with 10 with nine rebounds and six steals.

In a 54-27 loss at Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Monday in the first game of 2025, Gallentine had 16 points with five rebounds while both Wright and Lovie Pruismann grabbed five rebounds each.

The Lynx fell behind 11-4 after one and 24-12 at the break to the Cardinals, who were paced by 25 points from Bella Schisel.

Webster City was set to return to the court on Friday at Clarion-Goldfield/Dows. The Cowgirls are not fielding a varsity team this year, meaning the next contest will be on Monday, Jan. 13 vs. Nevada followed by a road game at Southeast Valley.
