The Webster City girls finally got in the win column, scoring a thrilling 49-47 victory over Nevada here Monday night.

Olivia Gallentine recorded a double-double to lead the Lynx, scoring 13 points with 10 rebounds. She added five assists and two steals as Liv Burns finished with 11 points.

“The girls have done a great job of trusting the process all year and were rewarded for their hard work with a great win,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “We were very balanced on the offensive end with six girls that scored five points or more.

“Defensively, we had two quarters that we held Nevada to less than 10 points. Each time Nevada took the lead we battled back immediately with some big baskets and stops.”

Lovie Pruismann finished with seven points and six rebounds, Tristyn Wright had seven points with four rebounds, four steals and three assists, and Avery Poppen contributed five points and five rebounds.

After building a 10-3 lead following the first quarter, the Lynx (1-10 overall) saw the Cubs rally, making it a one-point game at the break. The score was tied heading to the fourth where Webster City took control.

Marissa Hedeen had five points and Evie Davis grabbed five rebounds.

Nevada (5-7) came into the game having won three of its last five including blowout wins over Perry and Greene County.

Webster City took on Southeast Valley Tuesday night and welcomes St. Edmond on Friday.
