ALGONA — The Webster City wrestling team saw eight individuals earn Top-6 finishes here Saturday at the North Central Conference Tournament.

Both Eli Estlund and Cody Elliott had the highest placings among them, as they each took home third place honors, helping the Lynx finish seven overall.

Algona, with 14 medals and five individual champions, placed first ahead of Hampton-Dumont/CAL, Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, Humboldt, Clear Lake and Iowa Falls-Alden.

Estlund, competing at 190 pounds, went 3-1 on the day, earning a pair of falls and a decision. He pinned Jack Hackman of Clear Lake in the quarterfinals in 1:17 before falling to Brody Shipler from Algona in the semis.

From there, Estlund bounced back, pinning Daven Duncalf of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows in 63 seconds before pulling out a 5-2 decision for third over Brody Robertson from Hampton-Dumont/CAL.

Elliott followed the same path at 215 pounds, as he earned a fall in 5:52 to begin his tournament vs. Brock Thompson of Clear Lake. After a tough 4-2 decision loss to Trevor Bailey from Iowa Falls-Alden, he earned a 10-3 decision vs. Cael Donahe of Humboldt and pulled off an 11-5 win over Maddon Evans of Hampton-Dumont/CAL to claim bronze.

Gavin Wynkoop and Tristan Mason each finished fourth while Carson Burtnett, Dawson Bertran and Ridge Berninghaus were each sixth for the Lynx.

Luke Estlund, who made his debut on the mat this year after an injury in football, lost in the semifinals after receiving a bye in the quarters. He took two medical forfeits after, placing sixth overall at 165.
