No. 5 R-S defeats South Hamilton girls
JEWELL — The South Hamilton girls had no answer for No. 5 Roland-Story, falling here Tuesday night, 58-20.
Tessa Skartvedt had six points with five rebounds to lead the Hawks, as Isabel Swenson added five points and Claire Hewitt had five rebounds.
For Roland-Story, Alyssa Jones tallied 14 points and five rebounds. Kamryn Lande added nine points and five boards.
The Norsemen forced 29 turnovers.
“Their press gave us fits and we just committed way too many turnovers against it,” South Hamilton head coach Mark Henderson said. “The one area where I thought we had an advantage against them was in the post. They don’t really have anyone with the size to match up with Tessa, so we tried to focus on getting the ball inside and getting some good looks that way. When we were able to do that, we had some success.”
South Hamilton returns to the court on Friday night to host West Marshall. They open 2025 on Thursday, Jan. 2, from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines vs. St. Edmond.
