South Hamilton football players land on all-district teams
Six South Hamilton football players were honored as first team all-district for Class 1A, District 7 this past season.
Making the offensive squad were seniors Nick Severseike, Ashton Williams, Brock Zorn and Landon Sogard, as well as with junior Kolby Hodnefield. Braden Young, also a senior, was on the top squad for defense.
Second team selections for the Hawks included junior Titus Herrick on offense, along with senior Connor Deppe and sophomore Kaden Dean on defense.
South Hamilton finished as the district runner-up to Woodward-Granger, reaching the state playoffs once again.
Severseike, a returning all-state selection, had 566 yards and six touchdowns in district games. He also recorded 16 tackles and had two interceptions on defense.
Williams rushed for 390 yards with six trips to the end zone and made 23.5 tackles.
Sogard was the top receiver for South Hamilton, catching four passes for 87 yards, with half of those receptions winding up in the end zone. He had 17.5 tackles on defense, including 12 solos, and picked off a pair of passes.
Hodnefield had 390 yards rushing and four TDs, averaging 10.5 per carry while also recording 28 tackles including 17 solo stops and forcing two turnovers.
Young had a 73-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, picked off a pass and recorded 12 tackles with nine solo stops. He also accounted for 259 yards of total offense and six touchdowns.
Dean made 11 tackles while also rushing for 72 yards and a TD in district action. Zorn had nine tackles, Herrick had eight tackles and Deppe five.
Talan Fuson of Woodward-Granger was the offensive MVP, while Kane Mahler-Moreno from Woodward-Granger and Trent Warner of Nodaway Valley shared defensive MVP honors.
