Racing action heads to HCS
Racing action will head to Hamilton County Speedway this weekend.
Due to an issue with the planned venue in Mason City, the sites have swapped racing.
The 23rd annual Fall Futurity will now be held Friday and Saturday in Webster City with the Five Star Classic/Jerry Hejna Memorial headed to Mason City Motor Speedway Oct. 18-19.
Payoffs will remain the same: $1,500 Friday for mods and $2,000 Saturday; B-mods and stock cars $1,000 and $1,500; hobby stocks $700 and $1,000 to win; and tuners $200 and $300 to win.
Outlaw mini mods will still race on the following weekend at Mason City if we have enough interest.
“We just got some bad news from the North Iowa Fair and was told we needed to cancel our races for the weekend at the Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City,” Todd Staley said. “They have a big horse show this weekend at the North Iowa Fair and it just does not work to have both going on during the weekend especially Friday and Saturday.
“With that being said, Janet (Staley) and I decided instead of canceling the race we would swap weekends with our other track. Now we understand this is not going to work for some people and that is just life but if you was planning on racing this weekend you can trek to Webster City instead.
“If you was planning on Webster City next weekend you can just plan on Mason City instead.”
Pits open at 4 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday with grandstands an hour later. Racing is set to start at 7:20 p.m. Friday and 6:20 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets for Friday at $15 for adults, $12 for military and seniors, $10 for juniors and free for anyone 11-and-under. On Saturday, costs are $20, $15 and $10 for the same age groups.
