Lynx come up short on the road

SERGEANT BLUFF — The Webster City volleyball teams season came to an end on Thursday when they fell to Sergeant Bluff-Luton.

The Lynx (16-14 overall) lost in straight sets to the Warriors (21-13), 25-19, 25-12 and 25-14.

“The girls competed strong in the first game,” said Webster City head coach Jess Howard. “We went up against a good team and put up a lot of fight.”

It was the last match for seniors Cloe Savitski, Olivia Gallentine, Marissa Hedeen, Adysen Poppen, Addilyn Orton and Breanna Bahrenfuss.

“We had seven seniors, who were great leaders,” Howard said. “They set the tone for what we expected what Lynx volleyball is about as they progress.”

Savitski led the Lynx with 14 digs, while Morgan Hackbarth had nine and Alivia Burns had seven.

Tristyn Wright had 10 assists and Gallentine added nine.

Savitski was 7-for-7 serving, while Hailey Brim was 8-for-8. Hedeen was 11 of 13 with three aces.

Attacking, Gallentine was 21-for-27 with six kills. Hedeen was 13 of 17 with five kills. Orton was 8 of 11 with four kills. Poppen had three blocks.

“We had a big group of seniors, but also a large group of underclassmen,” Howard said. “They stepped into their rolls and were playing their best volleyball at the end.

“They will have some to show what they can accomplish throughout their careers and show what they can do.”

Starting at $3.46/week.
