Webster City runs at W-SR
WAVERLY — The Webster City cross country team took to the course here Tuesday at the Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic.
Izzy Grossoehme and Justin Callahan turned in Top-15 finishes, as Grossoehme was ninth with Callahan recording a personal record to finish 13th.
“It was a much better run for nearly the entire squad on both sides,” WCHS head coach Derek Turner said. “We ran a much better strategic race and executed our game plan to be more balanced in our mile splits.”
The Lynx had two other boys place in the Top-30 of the junior/senior division, as Jack Barner was 23rd and Gabe Thumma finished 28th.
Callahan had a time of 17:38.7, Barner finished in 18:39.6 and Thumma went 19:09.5. Kyzer Zinnel was 50th overall, Ivan Lopez 60th, Owen Patterson 77th, Arlen Lake 82nd and Ben Youngdale 104th.
Running the freshman/sophomore race, Jackson Olmstead went 20:20.1 to place 25th followed by Daniel Murillo Delfin in 28th, Kaleb Draeger in 31st, Jordon Betts in 39th, Tariq Burton in 48th, Leland Eggars in 56th and Kyle Hoiberg in 90th.
Grossoehme’s time of 22:04.9 came in the freshman/sophomore race, as fellow 10th-grader Heidi Mendoza was 90th.
In the junior/senior division, Lydia VanDeer placed 68th overall in 26:58.8. Abby Peterson finished 75th.
Karina Murray was 85th, Izzy McNiel 97th and Caroline Ehn 103rd.
The Lynx return to action on Monday at Ballard.
