Lynx take care of business on the road
CLEAR LAKE — The Webster City volleyball picked up a big league win on Tuesday night.
The Lynx (6-4 overall, 2-1 North Central Conference) handed Clear Lake (4-3, 1-2) their second straight NCC loss.
Webster City won the first game 25-15 and dropped the second 25-13. The visitors then closed out the match with 25-13 and 25-18 victories.
“The girls did a good job of composing themselves and coming out strong in the third set,” said WCHS head coach Jess Howard. “They played well down the stretch and carried the momentum into the fourth set.
“We came out on top in their gym, which was loud. We kept the ball in play and had it rolling on our side.”
The Lynx prevailed in their second straight match and fourth in their last five.
Marissa Hedeen and Olivia Gallentine led the Lynx in attacking. Hedeen was 25 of 28 with 12 kills; Gallentine was 23-for-30 with 10 kills.
Tristyn Wright and Addilyn Orton added six kills each.
Gallentine recorded 17 digs, while Cloe Savitski finished with 14 digs, Morgan Hackbarth had 13 and Wright added 11.
Wright (17) and Gallentine (14) were the squad’s assist leaders.
At the service line, Wright (20-for-20), Hailey Brim (14-for-14), Hedeen (11-for-11) and Hackbarth (9-for-9) were all perfect. Gallentine was 22-for-24 with five aces and Savitski was 8 of 10.
Wright tallied three aces.
Orton had three blocks, while Wright and Hedeen contributed two and Gallentine and Poppen one each.
The Lynx are back in action next Thursday when they host Hampton-Dumont/CAL on youth recognition night.
