Briggs Woods will host the event, tickets still available

WEBSTER CITY — The Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum will induct its newest class of members on Saturday, as the Briggs Woods Conference Center will host the event starting at 5 p.m.

Following a social hour, Master of Ceremonies Todd Foster will open the event at 6 p.m. An estimated 200 people are scheduled to attend and tickets ($25) are still available for anyone who would like to attend. Contact Nancy Pringle (515-570-9209) or Theresa Huffman (515-835-2620) for ticket information.

A children’s chicken strips basket is also available during the meal for $6.

New this year, a silent auction for various items will also be held with all funds raised going to the Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum.

The first class of 32 to be inducted into the Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum was in 2018, and a year later 16 more individuals were enshrined. The 2020 ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which left the newest class of 17 to wait a year for its moment in the spotlight.

The newest class of inductees includes John Sloan, Al DeCarlo, Ray Guss, Jr., Don Hoffman, Mel Kenyon, Wayne Larson, Stacy Redmond, Bill Rice, Gene Schattschneider, Mike Smith, Jack Housby, Keith Simmons, Morris Bailey, Dean Malone, Larry Schultz, Marty Pringle and Mark Bacon.

Nominations for the Hall of Fame came from the general public, with the organization’s Board of Directors making the final decisions on the class members.

Located in Otho, the Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum is a non-profit that was started to provide a permanent facility to showcase Iowa racing memorabilia and Iowa Hall of Fame inductees, according to the organization’s website.

Starting at $3.46/week.
