Wayne Fuhlbrugge

Wayne Fuhlbrugge, 78, of Ames, Iowa, died Sunday, March 2, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City, Iowa, with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.

Wayne Henry Fuhlbrugge was born October 22, 1946, the son of Henry Fuhlbrugge and Mary Coskey Fuhlbrugge. He graduated from Main West High in Des Plaines, Illinois, in 1964. Wayne served in the United States Army from 1966-1969 Vietnam Era as a Specialist E5. He attended William Rainy Harper College and graduated with an associate degree in science in 1971. Wayne continued his education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, and earned a forestry degree in 1974. He worked at Girl Scout Camp in Missouri from 1974-1977, followed by working in forestry from 1977-2011 with the State of Iowa.

He is survived by his wife Ann Marie of Ames, IA; his daughters, Kara (Eddie Lewald) Fuhlbrugge of Chicago, IL, and Jenna (Brad) Andresen of Algonquin, IL; granddaughters, Linnea and Saoirse Andresen; Ann Marie’s children, Trevor (Megan) Butler of Ames, IA, and Katlyn Schromen of Conway, SC.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and stepparents, Henry and Irene Fuhlbrugge, Mert and Mary Barrett.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Society of American Foresters and the American Legion.

Wayne loved playing his banjo and singing with his best friends. He was involved with the community theatre, loved fishing, dancing and spending time with his daughters. Among his favorite things to do were walking in the woods, traveling with Ann, playing cribbage with Friday guys group and ladies’ group at Northridge, and Euchre with men and women at independent living at Northridge.
