Norma Schutt

Norma Josephine Schutt, age 89, of Jefferson, formerly of Blairsburg, passed away February 27, 2025 after a brief illness. The daughter of Arnold and Effie (Kenrick) Smith, she was born November 11, 1935 in Webster City.
Norma was baptized in the Baptist faith and as an adult confirmed at the Vernon Lutheran Church of rural Dows where she was a long-time member. She served there as a Sunday school teacher as well as a leader of the Girl Scout and 4-H Clubs. Many will remember her as a waitress at the M&M cafe at the Blairsburg Junction and at the Boondocks Truck Stop near Williams. Norma was a voracious reader, enjoyed playing cards, completing crossword puzzles, and watching sports on TV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Schutt and her six siblings, Wanda Edith Dingman, Audrey Lucille Hutson, Arnold Bryon Smith, Betty Jane Burke, Lynda Caroline Brown and Nancy Elaine Smith.
Norma is survived by her three children: Rebecca Ann (Alan) Greiner of Jefferson, J. Matthew Schutt of Jewell and Deborah Mary Briggs of Clearfield: three grandchildren, Amanda (Andrew) Chapman, Ryan (Lydia) Greiner, Mike (Dani) Briggs: and five great grandchildren: Carson and Rory Chapman, Henrik, Blakely, and soon to be baby Briggs; In-laws Fred (Mary) Schutt, Thomas (Pamela) Schutt and many extended relatives.
A family and friend’s graveside memorial service will be held in the Blairsburg Cemetery at a later date. To commemorate Norma's love of reading, the family requests that memorials be made to a public or school library of your choice.
