Jeanette Bentley
Jeanette “Jan”Bentley, 83, of Blairsburg died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Van Diest Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, with visitation one hour prior to the service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with serving the family.
Jeanette Knox, daughter of Harold Lyman and Melvina Pearl (Page) Knox, was born on August 24, 1941 in Luther, Iowa. She was one of 12 children. Jan graduated from United Community High School in 1959 and attended Boone Junior College. Iowa. She worked many jobs through the years including George White Chevrolet, Ricke Seed, Clearview Cattle Company and Franklin’s in Webster City where she met Gerald “Butch” Bentley. On January 29, 1972, they were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ames. Jan enjoyed being a homemaker, quilting, playing cards, reading, gardening and sharing the produce with family and friends. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She often babysat them, making home videos of the Grandkids singing and dancing. They also enjoyed baking cookies together, including her famous chocolate chip cookies.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gerald “Butch” Bentley; daughters, Julie Bentley (Jerel Palas) of Farmersburg, Laurie (Todd) Christeson of Stanhope; son, Tim (Ashley) Bentley of Kamrar, Kristie (Kent) Dau, Lisa (Matt) Piller; grandchildren, Amanda (Anthony) Schrad, Jessica (Matt) McCauley, Emily (Chad) Potratz, Ben Sewick, Tyler Christeson, Ayslyn (Jacob) Garnette, Victoria, Abby, Logan, Jillian and Tenley Bentley, Tim and Tyler Dau, Marlyssa (Martin) Thorson, Josh Piller; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Rylee Schrad, Ryker Smith, Daicy Garnette, Stiles Rollene, Lincoln and Hudson Piller, Axel and Sigge Thorson; siblings, Margaret Uitermarkt, Carolyn (Roger) Pardon, John (Barb) Knox; sisters-in-law, Beverly Hayes, Mary (Tom) Stepp and many nieces and nephews.
Jan was preceded is death by her parents; siblings, Eleanor Louise Jipp, Helen Laurel Wisecup, Deloris Winona Pagliai, Raymond “Bud” Knox, Gloria Rene Yearian, Grace Miller, Donald Gene Knox and Marilyn Joyce Donnelly.
