Helen Burns

Helen Craighton was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Hampton, Iowa, to Glenn and Lola Marie Craighton. She graduated from Hampton High School. On December 17, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to Robert Walter Raisch. To this union, two sons and one daughter were born.

Helen and Robert farmed near Hampton, then near Iowa Falls, and finally north of Radcliffe, Iowa. She kept busy with the children, the livestock chores and the farming.

Helen was a member of the Church of Christ in Hampton, then Ames and most recently, First Christian Church in Iowa Falls. In later years she became an avid bowler.

Helen’s husband Robert passed away September 1998. In July 2001, Helen was united in marriage to Maurice Burns. He passed away May 2018. Helen spent the last seven months at Scenic Manor where she received excellent care.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Wayne) Blue of Kamrar, Iowa; son, Gary (LuAnn) Raisch of Iowa Falls, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill) Mell of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Jerod (Lee) Raisch of Vail, Colorado, Tony (Christine) Blue of Kamrar, Iowa, Michelle (Brian) Appelgate of Webster City, Iowa, Andrew (Tracy) Raisch of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Katie (Travis) Kloetzer of Hampton, Iowa. She also is survived by sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister; her two husbands and son, Marvin Raisch.
