John Foster
John “Jack” Foster, 92 of Webster City died Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Van Diest Medical Center. Private family services will be held at a later date and he will be buried in Graceland Cemetery. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is serving the family.
John Antrim Foster, son of Gordon and Edna Stroup Foster, was born September 17, 1931 on the family farm in the Ellsworth Township. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1948 – 1968 serving in Vietnam and Korea. On May 12, 1951, John was united in marriage to Beverly Lee Summers at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. John received a master’s degree in education from Arizona State University and worked for the BIA as a schoolteacher on the Sacaton Indian Reservation until 1981. He also was part owner of K& B Auto Parts in Scottsdale, AZ. He went on to attend gunsmith school in Arvada, CO and moved to Webster City to become a gunsmith, owning Valley Gunsmithing.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Beverly; children, Kevin (Cindy) Foster of Layton, Utah, Kelli Foster of Webster City, Korri (Ken) Domstead of Herriman, Utah, Kyle (Donna Gould) Foster of Sun Valley, Idaho; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; brother Vern Foster of Webster City and many extended family members.
John was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Kathi and Kristi Foster; sister, Lois Evans; brothers, Willis and Gordon Foster; brother-in-law, Lyle Evans and sisters-in-law, Joan Foster, Laura Foster and Flora Lea Foster.
He was a past member of the Webster City School Board, Webster City Council and Hamilton County Hospital Foundation Board.
