Stoakes congratulates Flattery on his Student Emmy

Braxton Flattery got a shout of from his mentor Dave Stoakes, who is the president of the Webster City Community School District board.

School Board President Dave Stoakes got to publicly give his congratulations Monday to Braxton Flattery for winning an Upper Midwest Emmy Student Production Award for his High School Sports Program.

The shout out happened during the Webster City Community School District board meeting on Monday.

“Well,” Stokes said, “I get the privilege of congratulating Braxton Flattery, who spent four years putting up with me at the score table. He won the upper Midwest Emmy Student Production awards last Friday night at the award show in Minneapolis, and he won because he did ‘At the Net,’ which was the pregame and ‘After the Buzzer,’ which was coach’s shows and did a phenomenal job.

Flattery, seated in the back of the room, smiles.

“And for somebody who I can kid because we’ve laughed a lot. When he started doing volleyball, I don’t know that Braxton had ever seen a volleyball match before because we nicknamed him Tappy Tap because that was what he called everything.

“And I got to tell you, (he’s a) phenomenal young man, phenomenal gentleman. And it was a blast working with you for four years, Sir. Let’s give him a hand.”

Starting at $3.46/week.
