First, the piano
... then pie

Brian Nass prepares to entertain his family and friends during an afternoon of Piano & Pie at Asbury United Methodist Church, Webster City, Sunday.
More than a fundraiser. More than a concert. Really, it was a gathering of family.
And it was a gathering of friends and people who share a love of music and love of community.
Brian Nass, a former graduate of Webster City High School, was able to soothe the souls for an hour of shared memories with his Sunday piano performance.
The freewill offering showed support for projects supporting women both locally and internationally.
PEO Chapter JE sponsored the concert, hosting Nass at the Asbury United Methodist Church. Chapter president Diane Bahrenfuss had hoped for a few hundred dollars. At the end of the day, not only had the fundraiser earned $1,583 for PEO projects, but another donation was made for Chapter EL, its sister chapter in Webster City. Between the two groups, $2,082 was raised to support the PEO projects.
Nass performed 15 songs, sharing his memories, tidbits about the songs he played and tested the audience on the years each song was popular.
When he was in high school, he played trumpet in the Webster City High School Marching Band.
He was joined Sunday by his mother, Marjorie Nass, sisters Miriam Nass Carlson and Mara Nass Moll, and about 90 community members.
And when it was all over, there was a lot of homemade pie.

Then, there was homemade pie. A lot of it. The event raised $2,082 to support the PEO projects of two Webster City chapters.
