Dozens of Webster City High School students participated in the annual Dance Marathon from 8 p.m. to midnight in the PE Gym Saturday night. The final amount raised was $12,014, which will go to the Children’s Miracle Network and, specifically, to the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

John and Courtney Jamison
, of Nevada, were in attendance at the Dance Marathon to talk about their daughter, Harper, who was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome at age four. The disease is often called “childhood Alzheimer’s” or “childhood dementia” because of its neurodegenerative nature and multi-system impact. There is no cure. The Jamison’s told the students they were told to enjoy the time they have with their daughter. She will likely only live to be 11 or 12. They said they speak at many Children’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon events due to the great work they do to help families with children going through serious childhood illnesses.
