The Elks, Riverview, Wilson Brewer Park are some big EHCF grant winners
Enhance Hamilton County Foundation awarded a total of $125,539.22 in 11 grants that were announced late Thursday afternoon.
One of the biggest awards — $50,000 — went to LIFT WC as the second payment for a challenge grant to assist with the revitalization project at The Elks. The Elks is the former Elks Club building in the 700 block of Second Street in downtown Webster City. It is nearly the final stages of its multi-million-dollar restoration.
The proposed Riverview Early Learning Center project was given $17,000 for its expansion initiative to purchase classroom furniture. Riverview will be a new structure proposed to be built on Hospital Hill where the former Hamilton Hospital stood. The cost estimate given in 2024 was more than $6.5 million.
Another significant grant — $10,567.36 — went to Wilson Brewer Park to install ADA-accessible (Americans with Disabilities Act) public restrooms.
“The grants represent the commitment of the recipient organizations to enhancing Hamilton County to benefit both residents and businesses,” Darcy Swon, director of the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation, said in a media release. “The Foundation is honored to support these important projects and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on Hamilton County’s growth and success.”
She added that the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation made the decision to bypass its traditional awards ceremony because of the blizzard earlier this week, and the need to ensure timely fund distribution.
