Hamilton County Conservation has programs coming in April

Build Your Own Terrarium Workshop

If you have ever wanted to build your own terrarium then this is the program for you.

This workshop is on Saturday, April 12, at the Hamilton County Conservation Office, 2490 Briggs Woods Trail, Webster City.

The workshop is from 10 a.m. to noon.

The registration deadline is Wednesday April 9, at 5 p.m. There is a limit of 20 people and a fee of $20.

“We will supply you a container, gravel, soil, moss, rocks, plants, and sticks to get you started. If there are any little decorations that you would like to add feel free to bring some along. We will explain the basics of how to build a terrarium and then everyone can create their own masterpiece.

“This is a joint program between the Hamilton County Conservation Board and the Iowa State Extension and Outreach Office of Webster City.”

Golden Deer Antler Hunt

This event is on Saturday, April 19, at the Wilcox Nature Trail Head at Little Wall Lake Park, Jewell.

The hunt goes from 10 to 11 a.m.

Meet at the parking lot just down the hill from the cabins at Little Wall Lake Park. Join the naturalist for a springtime hike to hunt for deer antler sheds along the nature trail.

“We will be searching for placed deer antler sheds and three special painted antlers. We will be searching for the illusive bronze, silver and gold antlers as we hike the trail together.”

This program is limited to the first 60 people who register, so register soon.
