Another charge filed against former Eagle Grove police officer

EAGLE GROVE — A Webster City man and former Eagle Grove police officer has had additional charges filed against him for explicit photos he sent and received from a minor.

Colt Allen Richardson, 27, was charged on January 13 with dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor. Late last week the Wright County Attorney’s Office added an additional charge of sexual exploitation of a minor, a class D felony.

According to court documents, Richardson possessed photos of the minor involved in a sexual act. The images were discovered as part of an ongoing investigation of alleged criminal violations while Richardson was both on duty as a police officer as well as off duty.

Richardson is also alleged to have sent images of his genitals over Snapchat to a minor on December 6.

The Eagle Grove Police Department said that Richardson is no longer employed with the department.

Richardson is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment on February 14 at 9 a.m. in Wright County District Court in Clarion.

The investigation was led by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, Eagle Grove Police Department, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wright County Attorney’s Office.

Starting at $3.46/week.
