Supervisors donate $5,000 to Hamilton County Crimestoppers

The Hamilton County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday agreed to donate $5,000 to Hamilton County Crimestoppers.
This contribution brings to $10,000 the amount recently donated to the nonprofit.
The City of Webster City also recently donated $5,000 to continue Crimestoppers’ mission.
Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Timmons thanked the supervisors for the funding.
“I’d like to thank the board for the donation to Crimestoppers. I’ve been pretty active in that since I’ve been sheriff and it’s a good organization. We’ve got a lot of great people.”
The other focus of Timmons’ message was for holiday safety.
“Just remember, there’s a lot of people who still have to work those holidays. Whether it’s our dispatchers, our deputies, our jailers,” he said.
“Just remember that they’re still out there. Control yourself. Drive sober.”
His words were followed by those of Hamilton County Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Zahn.
“Check road conditions when you’re traveling. To the southwest, possible snow coming up.
“And if you’re deep-frying a turkey this year,” he said over muffled chuckles in the room, “make sure that you read and understand all the safety requirements before you do that, so that our volunteer fire departments, EMS and that don’t have to go out on their holiday.”
He continued, “Should be pretty straightforward, but don’t set it up by your house. Don’t overfill it. Make sure your turkey’s thawed. Make sure it’s the right temperature of the oil.”
Speaking from experience? someone suggested.
“No,” Zahn said, “I smoke my turkeys.”
