Final Light Up the Stadium is Friday
The Webster City Community Schools will once again join schools and districts across the state to Light Up the Stadium on Friday, May 8.
The event, which has taken place each Friday evening over the past several weeks, is a way to show solidarity and support of the Class of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lynx Field lights will be turned on at 8 p.m. for 116 seconds–one for each Webster City High School graduating senior.
Friday will also mark the final Light Up the Stadium event this school year.
“This spring has been difficult for our entire community and especially for our seniors, who will not be able to take part in our typical graduation ceremony as planned on May 17,” said Dr. Mandy Ross, Superintendent of the Webster City Community Schools. “We wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the Class of 2020, showcase all they have achieved and wish them the best in the next stage of their lives. We hope our community can join us to support our seniors.”
Students and families are encouraged to drive, bike or walk by the stadium on Friday evening. However, all in attendance must follow social distancing guidelines and refrain from gathering in groups.
Lynx Field is located at 1001 Lynx Ave. in Webster City. To check out photos and social media posts on #BetheLightIA from throughout Iowa, visit https://twitter.com/hashtag/bethelightia.
