Kendall Young Library has special events for everyone
Kendall Young Library offers programming for all ages. Here is a list of upcoming offerings:
Adult Book Club — The library invites you to join in the February Book Club discussion about “Being Henry” by Henry Winkler. Books are available at the adult checkout if you are interested in participating. The club will meet on Tuesday, February 11, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for discussion. A book for the March Book Club will be announced at this time.
Adult Evening Book Club — The library will host the Adult Evening Book Club discussion on the book “Lies My Teacher Told Me” by James W Loewen. Books are available at Kendall Young Library. The club’s discussion meeting is on Wednesday, February 12, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Books & Bourbon Silent Book Club — The library is working with Wildcat Distilling Co., 626 Second Street, Webster City, to offer patrons a Silent Book Club. Gather at Wildcat Distilling Co. on Thursday, February 20, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Bring a book, grab a drink, and enjoy an introvert happy hour. This event will be held the third Thursday of each month.
Adult DIY — The library will host an Adult DIY on Tuesday, February 25, at 5:30 p.m. Patrons will have the opportunity to find their creative side with a watercolor painting. This event is free and does not require registration.
Spice Club — The library invites you to add some spice to your life with the KYL Spice of the Month Club. Bay leaves will be featured starting on Friday, February. Samples will be available throughout the month while supplies last.
Tales Around the Town — Kendall Young Library, along with local Webster City businesses, will take storytime on the road. Each week families are invited to meet at a designated location, hear a story and experience the host location. No registration is required; just follow the signs for the fun. Here’s the February schedule:
February 3 — The Cat Hut, 1118 Second Street, Webster City — 5:30 p.m.
February 10 — Fuller Hall, 625 Bank Street, Webster City — 5:30 p.m.
February 17 — Empower Nutrition, 916 Superior Street, Webster City — 5:30 p.m.
February 24 — Kendall Young Library, 1201 Willson Avenue, Webster City — 5:30 p.m.
Wild Things (preK-2nd) — will meet on Tuesdays from 3:45 to 5 p.m. in February. This time will offer a variety of stories and activities each week.
Fuzzy Ducklings (under 3 years) — will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in February. This parent/child experience is fun for everyone.
Tween’s Time (third – fifth grade) — will meet on Thursdays from 3:45-5 p.m. in February to explore crafts, STEM, cooking and so much more.
Homeschool TECH BUILD — Students will have time to work on a Gear Contraption on Thursday, February 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. to build and modify their project. This is designed for youth third-12th grade and will be held each month in the teen area.
Children’s Winter Reading Program — The library is hosting a month full of contests and activities throughout February. Wild About Reading is open to children 0-fifth grade. They will have the opportunity to complete a trail of tasks or get a BINGO on their card. Prizes will be awarded at the end of February.
TWEEN AMAZING READING RACE — Aligning with the Winter Reading Program, Tweens (third-fifth grade) patrons are invited to stop and read inside the library. Each racer can earn prizes along this reading race. Minutes of reading are used to trade a variety of prizes.
Teen Lounge — Patrons in sixth-12th grade are invited each Tuesday in February from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Join us weekly for special activities, video games, snacks, crafts, board games, and more. This time and place is perfect to hang out with friends.
