Williams set for another big 4th of July celebration

A parade, kids games, tractor games, and fireworks are all part of a full slate of activities planned for the 57th Annual Williams July 4th Celebration.
Sponsored by the Williams Lions Club, the events get underway Friday at 10 a.m. with the huge parade down the main street of town. Prizes for entries will be awarded in five categories: Floats-churches and organizations; floats-commercial; kids: costumes and floats; Machinery, cars and antiques; and horses. Persons interested in having an entry in the parade need to register at the Prairie Land Co-op office before 9:30 a.m.
Floyd and Marie Burton will be the grand marshals for the parade.
Foot races will get underway at 11:15 a.m. in the park and a 3 on 3-basketball tourney is set for noon. At 1 p.m., a frozen t-shirt contest will be held with all proceeds going to benefit Relay for Life. Throughout the afternoon, there will be kiddie rides and games in the park. Lunch and food items will be available at the new shelter house, provided by area churches.
Antique tractor games begin at 2 p.m. The Caruth Antique Tractors and Gas Engines will be on display all day, and the Hemken Collection Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
The Williams Little Princesses Program will be held in the park at 7:30 p.m., followed by a performance of the Ackley German Band at 8 p.m.
The big fireworks display will cap off the celebration at 9:45 p.m.
